Are your speech and voice skills good enough to help sell yourself, your product or your expertise?

  • Do listeners tune you out?
  • Do you hate your voice?
  • Are you interrupted frequently?
  • Is your regional accent a distraction?
  • Does your voice fatigue easily or do you lose it completely?

If you are like many people, you answered "yes" to at least two of those questions.  That means you haven't mastered speech and voice skills that command attention.

Maybe you don't project well.

Maybe you voice sounds childish.

Maybe you mumble.

Maybe you say "um" too many times.

We are all guilty of developing bad habits over the years or maybe you just never learned how to develop your vocal style.  We all tend to take our speech and voice for granted, too.   But most people make judgments about another person in the first seven seconds of meeting someone new.  They determine whether someone is friend or foe or whether they are worth listening to based on the person's voice.

You've probably gotten used to your current voice or have decided that you can't do anything about it.  But there is something you can do to improve the way you sound and stack the odds in your favor for appealing to your listener.  Sometimes changing one small habit is enough to create a more likeable, easy-to-understand voice.  No matter what your motive for desiring a change in your speech and voice, you can make a difference and get people to listen when you speak.
